Sean Lowe, the beloved star of “The Bachelor,” recently shared a heartwarming moment on his Instagram Stories that captivated fans. On June 18, 2025, he posted videos of his children—Samuel, 9, Isaiah, 7, and Mia, 5—joyfully reuniting with their family dog, Gus, who had been rehomed due to safety concerns.
The reunion comes after a challenging decision made by Sean and his wife, Catherine Giudici. In 2023, the couple chose to find a new home for Gus after he bit Samuel, resulting in a trip to the emergency room. Sean expressed his love for the dog but prioritized the safety of his children. “As much as I love that dog, I have to put my kids first,” he explained in a previous Instagram post.
In the recent videos, Sean recorded the kids excitedly responding to his question about what they were doing that day. “Seeing Gus!” they exclaimed, their faces lighting up with joy. The family visited The Collar Club Academy, a dog training facility near Dallas, Texas, where they were able to spend quality time with Gus, petting and playing with him.
Sean had previously shared his emotional journey regarding Gus, stating, “Y’all know how much I loved that dog and he was such a great dog. Great with the kids, well-trained, and he was so full of love.” However, he acknowledged the instances of resource guarding that led to the decision to rehome Gus. In an April 2023 post, he detailed the unfortunate incident where Gus bit Samuel, emphasizing the need for a safe environment for his children.
The Lowe family’s experience with pets has been tumultuous. In January 2025, they adopted another dog named Moose, a rescue boxer. Unfortunately, just two months later, Sean found himself in the emergency room after being attacked by Moose. He described the incident as alarming, recalling his immediate concern that he might have sustained a serious injury. “My first thought is, ‘I think that dog may have nicked an artery,’” he said in a March Instagram video, expressing gratitude for friends who rushed him to the hospital.
After the attack, Sean made the difficult decision to contact animal control and the adoption agency to discuss Moose’s future, realizing that he could not keep the dog in the same household as his children. “I’m super grateful it was me and it was not my kids or my wife,” he reflected on the incident, acknowledging the psychological toll it had taken on his family.
Despite the challenges, Sean and Catherine are eager to return to their normal lives. In an April Instagram update, Sean reassured followers that he was healing from his injuries and remained optimistic about the future. “I can live with that,” he said, referring to the scars he would carry as a reminder of the events.
The reunion with Gus marks a significant moment for the Lowe family, showcasing their commitment to ensuring a safe and loving environment for their children while navigating the complexities of pet ownership. As they continue to share their journey, fans remain supportive of their decisions and hopeful for the happiness that lies ahead for Sean, Catherine, and their children.
