Sophia Hutchins, known for her close association with Caitlyn Jenner, tragically lost her life in a devastating ATV accident on July 2, 2025. Reports indicate that Hutchins may have been speeding when the incident occurred near Jenner’s Malibu residence.
The accident unfolded in the morning as Hutchins was riding a 2013 Polaris utility vehicle. According to Sergeant Eduardo Saucedo of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Hutchins collided with a gray 2016 Mazda 6. The impact sent her vehicle and her tumbling down a 350-foot ravine, where she was pronounced dead at the scene. Hutchins was only 29 years old at the time of her passing.
Witnesses noted that Hutchins appeared to be speeding and may have rear-ended the Mazda, which was occupied by two women who fortunately sustained no injuries. “It looks like she may have been speeding and rear-ended the other car, causing her to veer to the right and go off the cliff,” explained Saucedo. He further clarified that it appeared Hutchins did not follow the Mazda closely but rather approached it at high speed, leading to the tragic collision.
In the wake of the accident, Jenner visited the crash site as investigators began their work. The damaged ATV remained in the ravine for some time due to the inability of local tow trucks to retrieve it from the steep cliff. Authorities are awaiting a toxicology report from the coroner’s office to determine whether Hutchins was under the influence at the time of the crash.
Hutchins, who had been living and working at Jenner’s Malibu home, first gained public attention through her role in Jenner’s 2015 docuseries “I Am Cait.” She later became Jenner’s business manager, leveraging her education in economics and finance from Pepperdine University, where she graduated in 2019.
Throughout their partnership, Hutchins and Jenner consistently denied any romantic involvement. During a 2019 interview on “Good Morning Britain,” Hutchins addressed speculation about their relationship, stating, “We have a really special relationship. I don’t think we need to be an item to have a really special relationship.” She emphasized their commitment to supporting each other both personally and professionally.
In recent statements, Jenner has expressed her current single status, indicating that she is not seeking a romantic relationship. “I’ll never have a relationship in the future,” she said in an interview with The Times U.K. in October 2023, adding, “I just don’t see that in my life.”
